きりがみ Kirigami

During Term 3, 2013, we made a ほし hoshi (star) from a piece of paper. The technique used in the activity was called きりがみ kirigami.

きりがみ, kirigami is a type of paper craft. Kiri means cutting and gami (kami) means paper.

Fold a piece of origami paper and cut out some patterns. Open it and see what happens.

Here is a link to a きりがみ kirigami site. It contains various instructions for different types of きりがみ kirigami. Click here.

Once you complete your きりがみ kirigami creations, glue them onto black card paper. You may use this technique to create your own cards, to decorate your notebooks, and more. Share your creations with your friends and family.
